A Quarendou's increased bulk makes it a poorer climber than Gravendou or Cragendou, so they tend to nest in rocky foothills and caves. They use their flexible tails to grab large boulders and hurl them at intruders.
The spines on a Quarendou's back are sharp but relatively brittle and sometimes snap off in battle; they eventually regrow, however. Every once in a while a Quarendou will break off its own spines to remove old weight and allow them to grow back stronger.
Name Origin
quarry + coendou, a prehensile-tailed porcupine
