Maaphix hide themselves in burrows in the desert sand. They guard their little burrows avariciously even though there is usually nothing of any value concealed within.
In battle, Maaphix try to disorient their foes by kicking up lots of sand. They have to throw all of the sand manually, however, and if they don't blind their opponent quickly they may tire themselves out.
